60 percent of parents seeks refund from Byju’s over the last two years

In a shocking revelation, as  Moneycontrol has shed light on the alarming number of dissatisfied parents and students at Byju’s Tuition Centre. The report reveals that an astonishing 60% of customers have sought refunds in the last two years, indicating a deep-rooted dissatisfaction with the quality of education and course format provided by the company. This surge in refund requests is a clear indication that a significant portion of parents and students are finding the offerings of Byju’s Tuition Centre far from satisfactory.

Refund Request Data

According to data obtained by MoneyControl, the period from November 9, 2021, to July 11, 2023, saw a staggering 43,625 official refund requests submitted to Byju’s Tuition Centre. Of these requests, the company managed to process only 41,198, showcasing the magnitude of the dissatisfaction. With an estimated 75,000 tuition centre subscriptions sold to date, these figures reveal a substantial portion of the customer base expressing concerns about the education they are receiving.

Company’s Response and Denial

When approached for comments, a spokesperson from Byju’s denied the allegations, dismissing the figures as baseless. However, the spokesperson failed to provide concrete numbers to counter the accuracy of the data presented by MoneyControl. This lack of transparency and avoidance of providing evidence to counter the claims further raises questions about the company’s commitment to addressing the issue.

Quality Concerns and Personal Experiences

The high volume of refund requests directly points to deep-rooted dissatisfaction among students and parents regarding the quality and format of the courses offered by Byju’s Tuition Centre. The report features accounts from parents who have had firsthand experiences with the company, shedding light on a range of concerning issues.

One major concern revolves around allegations of falsified attendance records, which indicate a potential disregard for accurate student tracking. Moreover, there are claims of insufficient communication regarding cancellations and refunds, suggesting a lack of accountability and transparency in the company’s operations. The compromised quality of lectures is another troubling aspect highlighted by parents. The essence of education lies in effective teaching, and when the quality of lectures is compromised, it impacts the overall learning experience of students.

Disturbingly, allegations of disrespectful staff members have also come to the forefront. A respectful and conducive learning environment is crucial for effective education, and any reports of rude behavior from staff members tarnish the reputation of the institution.
