Aaradhya Bachchan Moves Delhi High Court to Remove Misleading Content, Google and Online Platforms Served Legal Notices

Aaradhya Bachchan, the daughter of Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, has taken legal action against misleading online content circulating about her. The 13-year-old has moved the Delhi High Court, urging the removal of false and defamatory material from various online platforms. The court has responded to her plea by issuing notices to major platforms, including Google and Bollywood Times.

The legal action highlights growing concerns over misinformation and the impact of fake news, especially concerning minors. Reports indicate that Aaradhya Bachchan’s petition seeks immediate intervention to prevent the spread of misleading narratives about her health and personal life. The Delhi High Court, acknowledging the severity of the matter, has demanded responses from the concerned parties, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17.

This is not the first time the young celebrity has been targeted by false reports. In April 2023, the Delhi High Court had already ordered Google and other platforms to take down videos that falsely claimed Aaradhya was critically ill or had passed away. The court had then emphasized the importance of responsible reporting and the need for digital platforms to curb the spread of fake news.

The latest legal move reinforces the Bachchan family’s stand against misinformation and the violation of a minor’s rights. With the internet being a powerful medium for both information and misinformation, this case sheds light on the responsibility of platforms to monitor and regulate content that can harm individuals, particularly children.

The involvement of major online platforms in the case signals a crucial legal battle that could set a precedent for tackling fake news in the digital age. As the matter progresses in court, all eyes will be on the legal measures taken to address the issue and the role of platforms like Google in ensuring the integrity of online information.
