Delhi Election Exit Polls: BJP Leads Over AAP as Voter Turnout Hits 57.89%

Delhi Election Exit Polls Predict BJP’s Lead as Voter Turnout Reaches 57.89%

The much-anticipated Delhi assembly elections concluded with a recorded voter turnout of 57.89%, with the Election Commission of India expected to provide the final numbers soon. The battle for the 70-member Delhi assembly witnessed an intense triangular contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Congress. With exit polls now giving a significant edge to BJP, political dynamics in the national capital may be shifting, suggesting a potential return of the party to power after 27 years.

Polling took place in a single phase across 13,766 polling stations, where around 1.56 crore citizens were eligible to vote. Among them, 83.76 lakh were men, 72.36 lakh were women, and 1,267 voters identified as third gender. The elections were conducted under heavy security arrangements, with more than 30,000 police personnel and 220 companies of paramilitary forces deployed to maintain law and order and ensure a smooth voting process.

The political heat intensified as key players locked horns in crucial constituencies. AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in a fierce contest against BJP’s Parvesh Varma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit. The Kalkaji constituency is another political hotspot, featuring a heavyweight clash between Delhi CM Atishi from AAP, Alka Lamba from Congress, and Ramesh Bidhuri from BJP. The outcome of these high-stakes battles will play a crucial role in shaping Delhi’s political landscape.

The Election Commission of India has taken notable steps to enhance voter convenience, introducing a Queue Management System (QMS) app. This app allows voters to check crowd levels in real-time at polling stations, ensuring a smoother voting experience. Special provisions were also put in place to assist senior citizens and persons with disabilities, making the electoral process more accessible.

In a dramatic turn of events, Arvind Kejriwal has been booked for his controversial remarks accusing the Haryana government of “poisoning” Yamuna water. This legal battle could further impact the already charged political atmosphere in the national capital.

Meanwhile, the ECI imposed strict guidelines on exit polls, prohibiting their conduct, publication, or dissemination between 7 am and 6.30 pm on February 5. Despite this, the post-poll predictions are now indicating a potential BJP resurgence, challenging AAP’s stronghold in the city.

With vote counting scheduled for February 8, all eyes are on the final results, which will determine the political fate of Delhi. The exit poll trends have set the stage for an intense showdown, and the upcoming announcement will reveal whether Delhi will witness a change in leadership or continue with its current governance.
