New Rs 10 Lakh Nissan 7-Seater MPV Set to Launch in India with Premium Features

A brand-new Rs 10 lakh Japanese 7-seater MPV is set to make its way to the Indian market, and excitement is already building among car enthusiasts. Recently, a Renault Triber Facelift was spotted on a flatbed truck, hinting at its imminent launch. Nissan had previously announced plans for an MPV based on the Renault Triber back in 2023, and now the Japanese automaker has finally released a teaser of its upcoming 7-seater. This new MPV, built on the Renault Triber facelift platform, is expected to bring in a host of upgrades and refinements that will make it stand out in the highly competitive segment.

The Nissan MPV will largely share its mechanical components with the Renault Triber, which is a unique vehicle in the Indian market as it remains the only sub-4-meter 7-seater MPV. Nissan aims to tap into this growing demand by offering a more premium alternative with distinct design and feature enhancements. While the platform remains unchanged, Nissan has introduced subtle yet noticeable cosmetic differences to give the MPV a fresh identity. From the teaser, it is evident that the front and rear bumpers have been redesigned, adding a more aggressive look compared to the Renault Triber. The headlights, though similar in shape, now come equipped with LED DRLs and a striking wrap-around LED signature, enhancing its road presence. Another key differentiator is the new larger grille featuring a hexagonal pattern, making the MPV look bolder and more refined.

Nissan has ambitious plans for its new MPV, targeting an annual production and sales figure of 1,00,000 units. Additionally, the company aims to export the MPV to other markets, further boosting its presence in the global automotive industry. The Triber, while being a practical MPV, has always been known for its basic feature set. Nissan, however, has yet to disclose the full feature list of its MPV, but speculations suggest that it might come equipped with premium features such as automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. If these features make their way into the final production model, it will significantly enhance the vehicle’s appeal and further improve its value-for-money proposition.

Under the hood, the powertrain is expected to remain the same as the Renault Triber, featuring a 1.0-litre petrol engine that delivers 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. The transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. However, there is speculation that Nissan might introduce a sportier variant with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine sourced from the Magnite, offering better performance for enthusiasts. Pricing details have not been officially revealed yet, but considering the added features and Nissan’s branding, the new MPV is expected to be positioned slightly higher than the Renault Triber.

With Nissan entering the sub-4-meter 7-seater MPV segment, competition is bound to get fierce, offering buyers more options in the affordable MPV space. The official launch date is yet to be confirmed, but the arrival of this new MPV will undoubtedly create a buzz in the Indian automotive market.
