Samsung Set to Resume One UI 7 Rollout Today After Global Delay Caused by Critical Bug
Samsung’s much-anticipated One UI 7 update may finally resume rolling out globally, following a brief but frustrating pause that left thousands of Galaxy users in limbo. Initially launched on April 7, Samsung had officially confirmed the rollout of One UI 7 for its Galaxy devices, but many users reported no signs of the update on their phones even days after the announcement. The reason? A critical bug reportedly discovered in some Galaxy S24 units, specifically in Korea, which forced the Korean tech giant to halt the global rollout. However, if reliable industry insider Ice Universe is to be believed, Samsung could be resuming the One UI 7 update rollout as early as today, April 15.
According to several tech insiders and tipsters, the rollout was paused due to major issues affecting Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 devices, particularly in Samsung’s home market of South Korea. Reports suggest that users experienced problems with unlocking their phones and faced severe battery drainage, with suspicions pointing toward a flaw in Samsung’s Secure Folder system. Though Samsung has not issued an official statement specifying the nature of the bug, the update delay has sparked widespread speculation and concern among loyal Galaxy users.
Despite the hiccup, Samsung seems to be working swiftly behind the scenes to resolve the issues. In a recent communication with Android Authority, Samsung stated that the “One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience.” While this confirms that Samsung is actively working on the fix, it does not provide clarity on whether the resumed rollout will be limited to select markets or made available globally in one go.
One UI 7 is an important milestone for Samsung’s software journey, initially unveiled at a developer conference in November and made available with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January. The update has been praised for delivering a refined and fluid user experience, with enhanced animations, quicker app launches, and a host of AI-powered features such as AI Select, Writing Assist, and Audio Eraser. The new Now Bar allows users to control music and notifications directly from the lock screen, adding to the intuitive and user-friendly interface that One UI has become known for.
While newer models like the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 come with One UI 7 pre-installed, owners of premium devices such as the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been left waiting. This has led to frustration among users, especially since Samsung has committed to offering up to seven years of software support for its flagship smartphones. Some users have even speculated whether the delay was a strategic move to push consumers toward purchasing the newer Galaxy S25 devices, which already run the new software out of the box.
Regardless of the reasons behind the delay, today could mark a turning point if Samsung follows through with its promise to restart the update. With One UI 7 offering arguably the most polished software experience to date and competition from rivals like Apple struggling to catch up in AI integration, the successful rollout of One UI 7 could help Samsung reaffirm its dominance in the Android ecosystem.
