The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) is a national level education board for private and public schools all over India and also in few foreign countries which have been affiliated to CBSE. The Board is controlled and managed by the Union Government of India.
CBSE has taken various measures for the safety of children in the pandemic. Class 10th and Class 12th exams were cancelled for the academic year 2020-21 and an alternative scheme based on credible, reliable, flexible and valid alternative assessment policy was released for valuation and the results will be announced by the end of July.
For the academic year 2021-22 a new assessment system is released under which the academic year will be divided into two terms and the syllabus will also be divided equally between the terms and there will be no overlapping of syllabus in the entire year. The first term will end by November-December 2021 and the second term will end by March-April 2022. The examination scheme is also different this year. The first term will have only objective type questions with 90 minutes time limit and the second term will have subjective type questions with 120 minutes time limit.
In this academic year also the classes will be conducted through the virtual mode and the situations will be verified at the time of examination and then the decisions regarding online or offline mode of examinations will be taken. The new scheme is decided under the assumption that the situation will normalise by the end of the year.
A backup plan is also ready by the board. If the pandemic situation continues the classes will continue in the virtual mode and the first term examination being objective type questions will be conducted in the online mode and the weightage for the second term exams will be increased.
If the situation during the second term also continues then the term II exams will also be held through the online mode with objective type questions with 90 minutes duration.
The board has decided that if the schools are closed for both the terms, the results will be announced on the basis of project works, internal assessment, practical and theory marks of term I and term II. The weightage for these will be given more as compared to the final exams which will have objective type questions only.
All kinds of situations are taken into consideration and then the decisions are taken and the circular regarding the same was released on 5th July, 2021 and the same will be adhered to in the academic year 2021-22.
