Neeraj Chopra creates a history by bringing Gold Medal for India in men’s Javelin Throw. He left behind 12 participants by an incredible mark of 87.58m. Neeraj in his first attempt set a mark of 87.03m and in his second attempt his mark was increased by 0.55m. However, his mark of 87.58m was the highest in all the rounds.
Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch won the silver medal and Vìtezslav Vesley won the bronze medal.
Neeraj not only was a winner also he topped his qualifiers round. After Abhinav Bindra(shooting), Neeraj becomes the 2nd Indian to Bring Gold to India in Olympics.
In the Tokyo Olympics 2021, Bajrang Punia, PV Sindhu, Lovlina Borgohain and the men’s hockey team bagged the Bronze medal. Mirabai Chanu and Ravikumar Dahiya bagged the Silver medal.
Neeraj Chopra achievements before Olympics are :-
- In the year 2018, won Gold in Asian Games.
- In the same year, he also won Gold in the Commonwealth Games.
- In the year 2017, he won Gold in Asian Athletics Championships.
- Gold medal in World U- 20 Athletics and in South Asian Games (2016).
- Silver medal in Asian Junior Championship (2016).
Neeraj chopra was also the First Indian Athlete to get a title Track And Field at U- 20. Bringing Gold to India after a long wait will be the memory for generations to cherish.
After winning, Neeraj says ” It feels unbelievable. It is the first time India has won gold in athletics, so I feel very good. We have just one gold here in other sports”.
