BJP leader files complaint against a parent for questioning Governor over NEET Suicide case.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Salem (East) District’s President, P Shanmuganathan, has lodged a complaint against KR Ammasiappan, who is a parent working under the Central government. During an interaction event held to felicitate state’s NEET rank-holders at Raj Bhavan, the parent had questioned the Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi about the timeline for granting assent to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exemption bill, India Today reported.

Therefore a complaint was filed against him which alleges that the he, violated service rules by debating with the Governor.

The complaint was sent to the General Manager of Salem Steel Plant, where Ammasiappan is employed. BJP claims that he openly criticized a central government policy, which is considered as a breach of the Central Civil Services conduct rules. So BJP’s district unit is seeking punitive measures against him, along with the demand to remove him from the employment.

The major backdrop of this issue is the political promise to abolish the NEET medical entrance exam. This has fueled an ongoing conflict between the state government and central authorities.

In Tamil Nadu’s recent assembly election DMK party’s promise to eliminate NEET was a significant part of the opposition during their electoral campaign.

In response to the situation, on Friday the state Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, and the son of the Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi Stalin, reaffirmed the DMK’s commitment to fulfilling its election promise to secure NEET exemption for the state.
