During the 46th Annual General Meeting of RIL, Chairman Mukesh Ambani disclosed a range of initiatives to strengthen the global economic position of India. These plans include digital and retail ventures, such as the upcoming launch of Jio AirFiber with advancements in wind power, coming into the insurance sector with Jio Financial Services, and the main objective is to establish a battery giga factory by 2026. Despite these announcements, Reliance Industrie’s shares ended up 1.38 percent lower at Rs 2,435.95 per share on the BSE.
Reliance Jio has even introduced the Jio Smart Home Services, with the aim to transfer the way home appliances are being managed. In a direct competition with big tech companies like Google and Apple, they are now introducing Jio AirFiber to provide broadband connectivity. The offering covers Jio Smart Home devices, an entertainment-focused Set-Top Box, and a dedicated Smart Home app. Utilizing 5G technology, Jio AirFiber offers high-speed internet access, ignoring all the challenges that are associated with last-mile fiber connections. This initiative has the potential to redefine the living experience in India.
Chairman of Reliance Jio, Akash Ambani has mentioned, “A majority of data usage in India occurs within the realm of our homes. Excited to introduce Jio Smart Home services, a revolutionary concept set to reshape the home management and living experiences”.
The Jio Smart Home app is a specialized package that features an eRemote designed for the Jio Set-Top Box. The app even offers the convenience of using the smartphone as a gamepad. “Entertainment field is going through a rapid transformation on a global scale, converting from traditional methods to interactive formats. Jio is propelling this evolution within India. Set-Top Box facilitates this transition by offering support for JioCinema and JioTV+, with prominent international streaming applications.”
As per a BT report, the freshly launched Jio Smart Home devices are specifically designed to seamlessly integrate with both JioFiber and Jio AirFiber services. The report further highlighted the introduction of a new Jio Set-Top Box, placed as a gateway to an extended way of entertainment offerings. This includes access to TV channels, streaming content, immersive large-screen gaming, and a diverse range of digital applications.
