In the start for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India, the stage is set for the political battle as the five important states are going to poll this year which are Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram. In the crucial elections, on November 30, 2023, Telangana will be the first state to cast its votes and the results will be declared on December 3, 2023.
KT Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), conveyed confidence in his party’s win in the context of the Telangana assembly elections. He expressed that the BRS is assured to win more than 88 seats in the coming elections. He indicated Telangana’s victory as a state for start-ups, highlighting that leaders like PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi withstand the rise of others aside their control.
He criticized both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi saying that they failed to understand KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana. He stated that the BRS represents the people of Telangana as the “A-team” and arraigned BJP and Congress of corruption. He mentioned several legal problems and scams which involved the Congress leaders.
KTR commented on Rahul Gandhi referring to him as “Pappu ” and also criticized his understanding of infrastructure projects. He started by saying “Rahul Gandhi is a reader, not a leader” and said that the Gandhi family represents dynasty politics.
In addition, concerns regarding religious and social tensions were raised by KTR, advocating for a pluralistic and inclusive India, revealing anxiety about divisive politics in other states like UP. He mentioned that in Telangana all are treated with respect. With regard to political alliances, he mentioned that the I.N.D.I.A alliance is falling into pieces with parties like CPM and CPI not joining the alliance. He accused both Congress and BJP regarding lack of willingness and arrogance to treat others equally.
Furthermore, he spoke about BRS’s plans to expand its influence to Maharashtra and possibly Andhra Pradesh. He said that the choice of a Chief Ministerial face would rely on the outcome of the state elections and their confidence to win more than 90 seats.
There will be a three-way contest in the upcoming elections between the BJP, the Congress and the BRS, which at present is the ruling party. BRS secured 88 seats out of 119 seats with 47.4% of the vote whereas the Congress stood second with 19 seats which is 28.7% of the vote in the 2018 assembly elections.
This political arena sets the stage for competition in the coming state elections with each party contesting for supremacy and the chance for shaping the future of Telangana and its development.
