Mahua Moitra Claims to Have Record of Inappropriate Questions by Ethics Panel Chief.

Mahua Moitra, a Trinamool MP, is currently facing allegations of involvement in a ‘Cash for Query’ scheme made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. He claims that she accepted bribes from a Dubai-based businessman named Hiranandani to pose questions in Parliament aimed at the Adani Group. Moitra has angrily denied these allegations and recently attended a hearing with the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on November 2 regarding this matter. However, during the meeting, she left unacceptably, alleging that the committee had posed personal questions to her.

In her reaction, Moitra compared the situation to the “vastraharan,” a reference to the Mahabharata, where Draupadi, the queen of the Pandavas, was humiliated in a royal court. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Ethics Committee Chairperson Vinod Sonkar accused Moitra of using “unparliamentary language” against him and other committee members during the cross-examination that followed her deposition.

Aparajita Sarangi, a BJP MP and member of the Parliament Ethics Committee, criticized Moitra for speaking at length about her personal life, stating that it was not of interest to anyone. The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee was scheduled to convene on November 7 in Delhi to discuss and adopt a draft report on the alleged ‘cash-for-query’ accusations against TMC MP Mahua Moitra.

Ahead of an upcoming Lok Sabha Ethics Committee meeting, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has restated her claim that the committee’s chairman, Vinod Sonkar, posed “cheap, irrelevant questions” during her deposition in the “cash-for-query” case that took place on November 2. In a series of tweets, she criticized the BJP and reminded them that she possesses an exact transcript of the committee’s proceedings, including Sonkar’s irrelevant questions and the Opposition’s protests. She used strong language in her tweets, calling them “Besharam & Behuda.”

Moitra also accused the BJP for planning to initiate criminal cases against her, to which she responded that she welcomes them. She pointed out that the CBI and ED should first file an FIR against the Adani Group for a ₹13,000 crore coal scam before questioning her personal matters, such as the number of pairs of shoes she owns.

In response, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey took the mock at Mahua Moitra, highlighting her contradictory statements about alleged scams and questioning her credibility. He mentioned that Moitra had accepted an offer from businessman Darshan Hiranandani but not from Gautam Adani.
