PM Modi Travels to Italy for G7 Summit, First Trip Abroad in His Third Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on his first international visit of his third term, heading to Italy to attend the G7 summit. This visit marks an important diplomatic engagement, underscoring India’s active role in global discussions.

In domestic affairs, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has confirmed the reappointment of Ajit Doval as the National Security Advisor (NSA) for a third term. Doval, a retired IPS officer, will continue his role alongside PK Mishra, who has been reappointed as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. Both appointments are aligned with the tenure of Prime Minister Modi, ensuring continuity in their advisory roles.

Amidst escalating tensions in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Modi chaired a high-level security review meeting. The meeting, attended by the NSA and other senior officials, focused on assessing the security situation following a series of militant attacks. Prime Minister Modi was briefed on the ongoing counter-terrorism measures and emphasized the need to employ a comprehensive range of counter-terror strategies to restore stability in the region.

In Arunachal Pradesh, BJP leader Pema Khandu has taken the oath of office as Chief Minister for the third consecutive term. Khandu’s leadership was reaffirmed following a decisive victory, with the BJP securing 46 seats in the 60-member Assembly. The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall, saw the induction of several key leaders, including Ojing Tasing, Kento Jini, Balo Raja, Mama Natung, and Dasanglu Pul, as Cabinet Ministers. The event was graced by the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J P Nadda, highlighting the party’s strong support for Khandu’s administration.

This period of political activity, both domestically and internationally, underscores the multifaceted responsibilities of the Prime Minister and his administration. As Modi engages with global leaders at the G7 summit, his government continues to address significant national security concerns and political developments within India.
