Atishi and Raghav Chadha visit Kejriwal in Tihar jail; discuss plans to address water and power issues in Delhi

Amidst ongoing water and power crises plaguing Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Atishi and Raghav Chadha visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Tihar jail on Thursday. Kejriwal is currently lodged there in connection with a case related to excise policy-linked money laundering. Despite his incarceration, Kejriwal expressed deep concern for the people of Delhi, particularly regarding the challenges of water scarcity and power disruptions.

Atishi, speaking to the media outside Tihar jail, shared insights from their meeting with Kejriwal. She emphasized that despite being in jail, Kejriwal remains focused on addressing Delhi’s issues. According to Atishi, Kejriwal had been following the news about Delhi’s water crisis closely even from inside the jail. He directed them to take immediate steps to alleviate the water shortage and instructed all AAP legislators to actively engage on the ground to ensure water supply to residents.

Furthermore, Kejriwal discussed the recent power cuts in Delhi caused by a fire incident in Uttar Pradesh. He instructed Atishi and Chadha to hold meetings with relevant department officials to prevent such crises in the future. Atishi underscored that Kejriwal’s primary concern lies with the welfare of Delhi’s residents, a sentiment he maintains steadfastly despite his current confinement.

The visit by Atishi and Chadha underscores AAP’s commitment to governance and responsiveness to public issues even during challenging times. Their interaction with Kejriwal highlights the ongoing administrative efforts to mitigate immediate concerns such as water shortages and potential power disruptions in the national capital. Kejriwal’s directives from Tihar jail indicate his continued proactive stance on governance matters, aiming to ensure essential services are maintained for Delhiites amidst adversities.

Previously, on Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita, also visited him in Tihar jail, demonstrating solidarity and support during his judicial custody. As the situation unfolds, Kejriwal’s leadership from confinement underscores the political landscape’s dynamism and the dedication of AAP leaders to uphold their electoral mandate despite legal challenges.
