President Murmu met with Timor Leste’s leader, and India will soon open a new mission in Timor Leste.

Dili, Aug 10 (PTI) During her historic visit to Timor-Leste, President Droupadi Murmu and President Jose Ramos-Horta held extensive discussions on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including IT, health, and agriculture.

Murmu, the first Indian president to visit Timor-Leste, was honored with the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the nation’s highest award. She announced the opening of a new Indian Resident Mission in Dili and discussed future Timor-Leste representation in New Delhi.

The leaders also exchanged agreements on cultural exchanges, radio broadcasting, and visa exemptions. Murmu’s visit, part of a three-nation tour, concluded with her receiving a warm reception from President Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, reaffirming the strong bilateral ties between the two democratic nations.
