PM Modi Discusses Recent Visit to War-Torn Ukraine in Call with US President Joe Biden

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone conversation with President Joe Biden on Monday, where he expressed appreciation for the U.S. President’s commitment to strengthening the India-US partnership.

During the call, PM Modi briefed President Biden on his recent visit to Ukraine, reiterating India’s firm support for dialogue and diplomacy, and emphasized the importance of a swift return to peace and stability in the region.

The leaders also shared their concerns about the situation in Bangladesh, highlighting the need to restore law and order and ensure the protection of minorities, especially Hindus. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Spoke to POTUS on phone today. We had a detailed exchange of views on various regional and global issues, including the situation in Ukraine. I reiterated India’s full support for the early return of peace and stability.”

He added, “We also discussed the situation in Bangladesh and stressed the need for the swift restoration of normalcy and ensuring the safety and security of minorities, particularly Hindus, in Bangladesh.”

PM Modi conveyed his gratitude for President Biden’s strong commitment to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, emphasizing that it is grounded in shared values of democracy, the rule of law, and strong people-to-people ties. The two leaders reviewed the significant progress in bilateral relations and underscored that the partnership is designed to benefit not only the people of both nations but also the global community.

Additionally, PM Modi and President Biden reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums, including the Quad, and agreed to stay in close contact.
