Andhra Pradesh CM Hails Usha Vance as a Source of Pride for Telugu Community

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, congratulated Usha Vance, wife of U.S. Vice President-elect JD Vance, for becoming the first Telugu woman to hold the role of Second Lady of the United States, marking a proud moment for the Telugu community globally.

In a post on social media platform X, Naidu wrote, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mr. @JDVance on his historic win as Vice President-elect. With Mrs. Usha Vance’s Telugu roots from Andhra Pradesh, her role as the Second Lady is a monumental achievement for our community worldwide. I hope to invite them to Andhra Pradesh soon.”

Following the announcement, JD Vance expressed his gratitude on X, saying, “Thank you to my beautiful wife for making this possible, to President Donald J. Trump for this opportunity, and to the American people for their trust. I am committed to serving all of you.”

Usha Vance’s Background

Usha Vance, a daughter of Indian immigrants, was raised in San Diego, California, where her family emphasized education and dedication. She achieved remarkable academic success, serving as Managing Editor of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology and Executive Development Editor of The Yale Law Journal. Usha has also been a key influence on her husband’s career, including her role in helping him shape the ideas that led to his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which was later adapted into a 2020 film directed by Ron Howard.
