Arshad Nadeem to be awarded PKR 153 million, Pakistan’s highest civilian honor, and a gold crown for his Paris Olympics triumph.

Arshad Nadeem’s monumental gold medal win in the javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024 has solidified his place in sporting history. With a record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters, Nadeem not only shattered the Olympic Games record twice but also secured Pakistan’s first individual Olympic medal in 32 years, finishing 62nd in the overall standings.

Following his triumph, Nadeem is set to receive an array of honors, gifts, and cash prizes. While the International Olympic Committee does not provide prize money for gold medalists, World Athletics has announced a reward of USD 50,000 (approximately INR 41.97 lakh) for track and field gold winners.

Additionally, Nadeem will receive a staggering PKR 150 million (approximately INR 4.5 crore or USD 538,000) from the Pakistan government, with PKR 100 million announced by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and Sindh CM, along with Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, have also pledged a combined PKR 53 million.

Pakistani celebrities have joined in celebrating Nadeem’s achievement, with singer Ali Zafar and former cricketer Ahmad Shahzad each offering PKR 1 million. Moreover, Nadeem will be recommended for the prestigious Hilal-i-Imtiaz award and will receive a brand new Alto car from Pakistani-American businessman Ali Sheikhani.

Tributes continue with a solar energy system from Beacon Energy and a gold crown. A new sports stadium in Sukkur and a sports academy in Karachi will be named in his honor. Adding to the list, Nadeem’s father-in-law, Muhammad Nawaz, has gifted him a buffalo, a symbol of great value and honor in their village, where Nadeem remains deeply rooted despite his global success.
