“Canada and India Issue Travel Advisories Amid Diplomatic Tensions Over Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s Killing”

India and Canada are arguing about something, and it’s making them warn their citizens who live in each other’s countries to be careful. This problem started because of the killing of a man named Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, and it’s causing trouble in their relationship.

Canada’s Warning:

Canada has updated its warning for its citizens in India. They are telling Canadians in India to be watchful and careful. The warning talks about worries regarding safety and security, like people planning protests and the stopping of visa services. The Canadian government says they are doing this because of recent events in both countries and because some people on social media are saying negative things about Canada.

India’s Warning:

In return, India has given a similar warning to its citizens in Canada. They are telling Indians in Canada to be very careful because there are things happening in Canada that might not be safe. India’s Ministry of External Affairs talked about “threats” against Indian diplomats and people who don’t like the “anti-India plan.” They are also saying that people should avoid going to places in Canada where these problems have happened.

Canada’s Answer:

Canada didn’t like India’s warning, and they said that Canada is one of the safest countries in the world.

Why They Are Fighting:

The argument between Canada and India got worse when Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said that Indian agents might have something to do with the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This happened on June 18 in British Columbia, Canada. India had called Nijjar a terrorist in 2020.

The United States also got involved in the problem. They gave Canada some information about Nijjar’s killing. Canada used this information to say that India might have been behind it. The top U.S. diplomat in Canada said that they shared this information with their friends, known as the Five Eyes, which made Canada believe that India was involved.

Investigations Continue:

Because of the killing and the arguments, the police in India did searches at the homes of people who are connected to a person named Lakhbir Singh, also known as Landa. He is a Khalistani extremist that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is watching. They searched 48 places in one area and arrested some people.

The NIA also made two lists of 54 people with their pictures who they want to talk to because of some investigations about stopping gangs and terrorists in India.

Canceling OCI Cards:

India is also thinking about stopping more than a dozen Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) cardholders because they say these people are doing things that support Khalistan and hurt India’s image. This happened after India stopped giving visas in Canada and told Canada to have fewer diplomats in India.

The fight between Canada and India because of the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar is getting worse. Both countries are telling their people in the other country to be careful. There are investigations happening, and it’s making things difficult between the countries. The United States is also part of the problem now.
