Delhi LG clears electricity subsidy file after AAP’s press conference

The Delhi Power Minister Atishi made a public statement that the subsidies on electricity in Delhi will be discontinued from 14th April 2023, a fresh argument between the Aam Aadmi Party( AAP) led the Lieutenant Governor and the government of Delhi to explode over the subsidies on power to consumers of the state in the national funds.

From 17th April 2023, people will get an increased power bills without any subsidy, Delhi Power Minister Atishi gave all the blame to the Lieutenant Governor in a press conference for holding the most important file even after getting the budget approval from the AAP government for an amount of Rs.3,250 crores to carry on with the subsidy in the forthcoming year.

The Lieutenant Governor sent a letter to the Power Minister’s office stating that the Power Minister has recommended to avoid the unnecessary campaigning and false accusations against Lieutenant Governor (LG).

Miss.Atishi asserted that she had asked for an appointment with Mr Saxena – The Lieutenant Governor to have a discussion on the power subsidy for five minutes, but there was no response from LG even after 24 hours. She also said that the budget has been passed by the Vidhan Sabha on the power subsidy, but they are not ready to spend the allocated funds on the subsidy.

The Minister made an allegation that  she had received a letter from Discoms which stated that they didn’t get any information about the subsidy, so they would get back on the regular billing from Monday i.e 17th April 2023.

Raj Niwas said that the file on subsidy on power supply was approved and signed by the Chief Minister before the press conference but they are trying to protect themselves from the most humiliating and wrong thing by falsifying the useless claims and self centered false stories.

The Delhi government provides electricity free of charge to consumers for a monthly power consumption of 200 units, and for those consumers who consume power more than 200 units and less than 400 units were given 50 % subsidy and that amounted to Rs.850.

In the previous year, The CM Arvind Kejriwal made an announcement that the power subsidies will be given to those consumers who register for it and over 48 lakh consumers among the total population of Delhi had registered for power subsidies.

Virendra Sachdeva – State President of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) said that it is unfortunate that the power Minister Atishi is making these false allegations on the other political parties after getting the constitutional post for herself.
