Hamas Extends Invitation to Elon Musk to Witness Gaza’s ‘Massacres and Destruction

Hamas has extended an invitation to Elon Musk to visit the Gaza Strip and witness the aftermath of Israel’s military actions, emphasizing the need for global awareness of the suffering of civilians on both sides. Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan invited Musk on November 28, 2023, prompting to express concerns about the current danger in the region. Despite acknowledging the current risks, Musk stated his belief in the importance of a prosperous Gaza for all parties involved. During a recent visit to Israel, Musk visited the Kfar Aza kibbutz, targeted by Hamas gunmen on October 7, where he emphasized his commitment to countering the spread of hatred. Responding to the invitation, Musk posted on his social media platform, X, indicating his willingness to consider the visit while recognizing the challenges.

However, the tech billionaire has faced recent criticism for alleged anti-Semitism and the presence of white nationalist rhetoric promoting violence on his social media platform. Musk’s visit to Israel included expressions of shock at the devastation in Kfar Aza, leading him to assert that Israel had “no choice” but to eliminate Hamas. He also negotiated an agreement regarding the operation of Starlink satellite units in Israel, requiring approval from the Israeli Ministry of Communications, a departure from his earlier consideration of providing Starlink to enhance communications in Gaza.

In response to the situation, Hamdan urged Musk to visit Palestine to gain a more comprehensive perspective and called on the United States to reassess its relationship with Israel, advocating for a halt in the supply of weapons. Additionally, Hamdan appealed to the international community to promptly send specialized civil defense teams to assist in retrieving bodies from the rubble, emphasizing the urgent need for support in the face of the extensive destruction caused by the conflict.
