India Emerges as a Global Leader in Generative AI Adoption, Ranking Second After the US

India is rapidly becoming a frontrunner in the adoption of Generative AI technologies, now holding the second position globally, just behind the United States. This information comes from a report by SimilarWeb titled “Gen AI in Consumer Applications.”

According to the report, India is particularly excelling in various Generative AI platforms, especially in the areas of virtual assistants and content editing. Notably, the country contributes 12% of the global AI usage in content editing, highlighting its significant role in integrating AI into content-related tasks.

In addition to content editing, India ranks third worldwide for AI utilization in productivity tools and education. A growing number of users are leveraging AI platforms to enhance their efficiency and learning experiences.

The report indicates that India maintains over a 10% share across multiple AI applications, demonstrating an active user base in diverse sectors. However, it also points out that Indian users are somewhat slower to adopt AI-powered companion apps, suggesting a need for localized solutions with effective monetization strategies to engage more users.

While AI applications in education are gaining popularity, the uptake of personal assistant apps remains lower. This discrepancy signifies potential growth opportunities if tailored AI solutions and innovative monetization strategies are developed. Furthermore, the report mentions that AI-driven travel and commerce applications are beginning to attract attention and are anticipated to expand as AI capabilities extend beyond content editing and educational tools.
