In the latest episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy and his wife, author and philanthropist Sudha Murthy, shared candid stories from their personal lives, offering viewers a glimpse into their enduring bond. During the show, Sudha admitted with a laugh that cooking isn’t her strong suit, but Narayana has always valued her efforts in the kitchen.
Sudha recalled a memorable moment when Narayana first met her father. Reflecting on the experience, she explained how he had hoped to make a great first impression. “He arrived two hours late because his taxi broke down,” she shared. “My father, who was very particular about punctuality, had already started asking me questions about Narayana’s ambitions. When he finally arrived, Narayana began talking about his interest in politics and his dream to open an orphanage. But my father, who held high expectations since I was one of the few women engineers of my time, was not easily impressed by the late arrival or these big dreams.”
Host Kapil Sharma joined in on the fun, comparing Murthy to Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan for his romantic gestures. One moment that particularly amused Kapil was Sudha’s story of forgetting to add salt to a dish, yet Narayana ate it without a word of complaint. “He told me, ‘You made this with love, and that’s enough for me,’” she laughed.
Narayana shared his perspective, revealing his humorous and relaxed attitude during those early days. He recalled, “I was a bit playful and even a bit adventurous. I thought, ‘If he’s angry, let him be.’” Reminiscing on his early impressions of Sudha, he fondly described her as “a breath of fresh air” and admired her positivity and kindness. “She wanted someone who could listen, and I was happy to be that listener,” he added, sharing a smile with the audience.
