Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have resulted in the deaths of thirteen Palestinians, according to WAFA.

According to WAFA, Israeli airstrikes early Saturday killed at least 13 Palestinians and wounded 15 others. The strikes targeted a school sheltering refugees, Halima al-Sa’diyya School in Jabalia, and a residential building in the Nuseirat camp. Eight of the victims were in refugee tents at the school in northern Gaza. The Israeli army confirmed it had targeted Hamas fighters operating from a command center at the school.

In a separate incident, five Palestinians lost their lives when a residential building in central Gaza’s Nuseirat camp was struck.

The violence stems from an October 7 attack last year by Hamas militants in which 1,200 Israelis were killed, and about 250 hostages were taken. Since then, Israel’s response in Gaza has resulted in over 40,800 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza’s health ministry. Nearly all of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been displaced, and the crisis has led to accusations of genocide at the World Court, which Israel denies. The UN estimates that at least 1.9 million people across Gaza are now displaced, some multiple times.
