IT Raids Hit “Pushpa 2” Director Sukumar and “Game Changer” Producer Dil Raju Amid Box Office Speculation

Income Tax officials recently conducted raids at the Hyderabad residences and offices of both “Pushpa 2” director Sukumar and prominent producer Dil Raju, who is behind the recent blockbuster “Game Changer.” These raids have sparked considerable discussion, especially in light of ongoing debates surrounding inflated box office figures within the film industry.

The IT department’s actions involved early morning searches at both locations, focusing on financial records such as bank details, transactions, and secured lockers. Sukumar, who was at Hyderabad airport at the time of the raid, was escorted back to his residence by IT officials. While the precise reasons for these raids have not been officially disclosed, they have naturally generated significant buzz and speculation within the film industry and among fans.

This development comes on the heels of the massive success of “Game Changer,” a political action drama that reportedly grossed over ₹350 crore worldwide in its first week. The film continues to perform strongly in theaters globally, drawing large audiences. The Hindi version of “Game Changer” has also witnessed substantial growth, with a reported 10% increase in collections on Sunday compared to its opening day. Over two days, the Hindi version is said to have grossed ₹20.81 crore, with the total weekend gross reaching ₹32.05 crore and a net collection of ₹26.59 crore.

Directed by the renowned S. Shankar, “Game Changer” has garnered positive responses not only in Telugu-speaking regions but also across North India and in international markets, highlighting the widespread appeal of its star, Ram Charan. This success has further solidified Ram Charan’s status as a global star. The film narrates the compelling story of a dedicated IAS officer’s fight against a corrupt political system. Ram Charan portrays dual roles, embodying both the IAS officer Ram Nandan and the social reformer Appanna, delivering what have been described as powerful and nuanced performances.

The film is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under the banners of Sri Venkateshwara Creations, Dil Raju Productions, and Zee Studios. The ensemble cast includes Kiara Advani, Anjali, SJ Suryah, Srikanth, Samuthirakani, and Jayaram, all of whom have received acclaim for their contributions. With its engaging storyline, impressive visuals, and strong performances, “Game Changer” is anticipated to maintain its momentum in the coming weeks, potentially securing its position as one of the year’s biggest hits. The timing of the IT raids, coinciding with the film’s success and the ongoing discussions about box office reporting, has added another layer of intrigue to the situation.
