LRS Rejections in Telangana Cause Growing Frustration Among Plot Owners

Plot owners in Telangana are expressing increasing frustration as their applications for the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) are being rejected under new regulations. Many purchased these plots years ago, hoping to secure their children’s future, but now find themselves in a state of confusion. Layouts that were once approved, including those by village panchayats over 15 years ago, are now facing mass rejection, leading to confrontations with authorities.

Even layouts previously accepted under earlier rounds of LRS are being denied in this latest phase, causing owners to question the government’s motives. In Sultanpur, Ameenpur Municipality, plots that were approved in 2016 under Survey Number 457/1 are now being rejected, despite the same layout being submitted again in 2020. This has sparked doubts about the validity of previously approved LRS plots.

Across Telangana, 25.7 lakh applications were submitted, with a significant number coming from various regions like GHMC, HMDA, urban development authorities, municipalities, and village panchayats. The government had earlier opened the LRS application window in 2020, but applicants are now facing rejection without clear reasoning.

Authorities have been ordered to speed up the review process, but plot owners allege that the handling of applications has been arbitrary. They urge the government to resolve the confusion surrounding LRS and address the widespread concerns.
