NEW DELHI: On Friday, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray announced his readiness to back any chief ministerial candidate proposed by Congress and NCP(SP) as the face of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the upcoming state elections.
Addressing the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) cadres, Uddhav emphasized that the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections are crucial for safeguarding the state’s self-respect. He urged the alliance to select a CM candidate and assured his full support, stating, “Let Congress and NCP-SP propose their CM candidate, and I will support it. We must work for Maharashtra’s progress and respond to those ’50 khokas’ and ‘gaddar’ by showing that the people are with us, not them.”
Reflecting on his previous alliance with the BJP, Uddhav stressed that the chief ministerial candidate should be decided before the elections, rather than based on the party that wins the most seats.
Uddhav also called on the MVA cadres to represent the opposition alliance effectively as they prepare for the Maharashtra assembly elections, expected in October or November. The MVA alliance includes Sena (UBT), NCP (SP) led by Sharad Pawar, and Congress.
