Over 200 Former GOP Presidential Staffers Back Harris Instead of Trump in 2024 Election

In a significant political development ahead of the U.S. presidential elections this November, more than 200 Republicans who previously served under former President George W. Bush have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris over GOP candidate Donald Trump. This endorsement was made public in an open letter published on Monday, as reported by Fox News.

The group of Republicans, which includes former aides to both President George H.W. Bush and the late Senator John McCain, is urging “moderate Republicans and conservative independents” to support Harris. These officials had previously voiced their opposition to Trump during the 2020 election.

The letter, published by USA Today, reflects a continuation of their 2020 warnings against re-electing Trump. It states, “Four years ago, we came together to warn that another term for President Trump would be disastrous for our democracy. Today, we reunite, with additional support from George H.W. Bush alumni, to formally endorse Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”

While the endorsing Republicans acknowledge their policy differences with Harris, they stress that the alternative is unacceptable: “We have our disagreements with Vice President Harris and Governor Walz, as expected. But the alternative is simply untenable.”

Meanwhile, Trump has accepted a debate challenge with Harris, setting specific conditions for the event. On the social media platform Truth, he announced, “I have reached an agreement with the Radical Left Democrats for a debate with Comrade Kamala Harris. It will be broadcast live on ABC FAKE NEWS, the most biased newscaster in the business, on Tuesday, September 10th, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.”
