RCB Takes a Dig at Pakistan with ‘Indian Team’ Jibe After Humiliating Whitewash by Bangladesh: ‘Winning at Home Isn’t…’

RCB Takes a Jab at Pakistan with ‘Indian Team’ Reference After Bangladesh’s Whitewash

On Tuesday, IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took a sly jab at Pakistan, referencing the Indian cricket team following Pakistan’s embarrassing 0-2 Test series defeat against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Pakistan suffered their first-ever loss to Bangladesh in the series opener on August 25, falling by 10 wickets, and followed it up with a six-wicket defeat in the final match.

Heading into the series, Pakistan had high hopes of qualifying for their maiden World Test Championship final, especially with two home series against Bangladesh and England on the horizon. However, those hopes were dashed by a determined Bangladesh side, who secured their fourth Test series clean sweep and second away from home. Pakistan, meanwhile, has now gone 10 home Tests without a win, a streak that dates back to February 2021 when they last whitewashed South Africa.

In the wake of Pakistan’s defeat, RCB didn’t hold back, posting a cheeky reminder on social media that winning at home isn’t as effortless as the Indian team makes it seem. The tweet read, “Winning at home isn’t as easy as this team makes it look like. And they are back this month.”

India’s Dominance at Home

Since their series loss to England in 2012, India has maintained an unbeaten record on home soil, with an impressive 17 consecutive Test series wins. This remarkable streak stands out, especially when compared to the next best, Australia’s 10 consecutive home series wins achieved twice, between 1994-2000 and 2004-2008. During this dominant run, India played 50 home matches, winning 39 and losing only four, two each to Australia and England.

India is set to continue their home dominance with upcoming Test series against Bangladesh (two matches starting September 19) and New Zealand (three matches) in late October.
