Saudi Arabia and China Unite in Demanding Israel’s Adherence to 1967 UN Resolution for Palestinian Statehood.

In a virtual summit of the BRICS group, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Chinese President Xi Jinping have unequivocally advocated for a comprehensive peace process to resolve the Israel-Hamas conflict. The leaders emphasized the urgent need for a two-state solution, echoing global sentiments for lasting peace in the region.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman declared that the Kingdom’s stance on the matter is “constant and firm.” He asserted that the only path to security and stability in Palestine is through the implementation of international decisions related to the two-state solution. Bin Salman expressed concern over the recent violence, particularly condemning Hamas’ actions in Israel and the subsequent bombardment of Gaza by Tel Aviv.

Saudi Arabia has demanded the initiation of a serious and comprehensive peace process that would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state along the borders decided in 1967. The Crown Prince strongly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, denouncing the forced displacement of residents and characterizing it as a humanitarian catastrophe.

Addressing the BRICS summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping echoed the call for a ceasefire and emphasized the two-state solution as the fundamental way to end the recurring conflicts between Palestine and Israel. Jinping urged the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine.

The Saudi Crown Prince criticized what he deemed “double standards” in the application of international humanitarian law, highlighting the international community’s silence towards violations against Palestinian civilians. He called for coordinated and collective efforts among Arab and Islamic states to lift the siege on Gaza and provide humanitarian and relief aid.

Bin Salman noted that Saudi Arabia has been actively working towards ending the conflict, engaging in consultations since the beginning of the aggression in Gaza. He reiterated the Kingdom’s commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

As international leaders continue to express their concerns and advocate for a peaceful resolution, the Israel-Hamas conflict remains a focal point of diplomatic efforts, with calls for a ceasefire and a renewed commitment to the two-state solution gaining prominence on the global stage.
