Tata Group-owned Air India to recruit 5100 cabin crew and pilots this year.

Earlier, this month Tata Groups- owned Air India had made a historical move by placing the biggest order of 470 aircrafts from Boeing and Airbus with a motive to spread their wings across the country and beyond. The airlines also announced about leasing 36 aircraft, and Boeing 777-200LR has already joined the fleet.

After its mega-deal, on 24th Feb 2023 the airlines announced their plan to hire around 5100 members as cabin crew trainees and pilots.

According to the sources, the firm is looking forward to hiring 900 pilots and 4200 cabin crew members this year as it adds new planes and expands its boundaries leading to potential growth. The recruited cabin crew around India will undergo a 15 weeks training program.

The airlines stated that “ The cabin crew, who will be recruited from around the country, will undergo a 15-week program imparting safety & service skills, and will be coached to exemplify the best of Indian hospitality and Tata group culture. The training program will include extensive classroom and in-flight training at the airline’s training facility in Mumbai as well as familiarization flights.” The Economic Times and Business Today reported.

As per the reports, the head of Air India In-flight Services, Sandeep Varma, mentioned “with a sizeable aircraft order that was announced earlier in this month, more flights on international and domestic networks and re-alignment of domestic routes with AIX Connect, cabin crew will play a decisive role in shaping the present and future of the Air India group”.

As of now, Air India being India’s second largest domestic carrier has over 1000 pilots to operate its 113 aircraft fleet. While its subsidiaries Air Asia India and Air India Express together have more than 800 pilots.

Between May 2022 to February 2023 the company has hired over 1800 cabin crew and more than 1000 cabin crew members have been trained in the past seven months, along with around 500 cabin crew being released for flying in the last three months.

The plans and progress of Air India is definitely going to make a big difference in the aviation sector. However it will boost the quality and efficiency of the Indian airlines.
