Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Introduces Green Channel Fund Transfer for Government Schools, Enhancing Student Welfare and Education Quality

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Launches Green Channel Fund System for Government Schools and Hostels

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has introduced a revolutionary ‘Green Channel’ fund transfer mechanism aimed at improving the welfare of students in government residential schools and hostels. The initiative is designed to ensure the timely and seamless disbursement of funds, eliminating delays often caused by bureaucratic processes. Under this new system, funds will be directly transferred to schools and hostels by the 10th of every month, ensuring uninterrupted support for students’ needs.

The announcement was made by CM Revanth Reddy during his visit to a government residential school in Chilkur on Saturday. The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative will improve the financial management of government institutions, enabling schools to meet the requirements of their students promptly.

Focus on Student Welfare and Meal Quality

Along with the fund transfer system, CM Revanth Reddy also unveiled a new common diet menu for students in government hostels, with the aim of enhancing the nutritional quality of meals provided. During his visit, he dined with the students to inspect the food quality and observe their living conditions firsthand.

As part of the broader initiative to improve hostel life, the Chief Minister announced the formation of ‘mess management committees’ in every government school and welfare hostel. These committees, comprising students, will have the authority to monitor the food preparation process, from cooking to serving, ensuring that students have a voice in the quality of meals they consume.

Government’s Commitment to Improving Infrastructure

In his speech, CM Revanth Reddy underscored the importance of improving the living and educational conditions in government institutions. He highlighted that along with ministers, district collectors, and other officials, he would frequently visit residential schools and welfare hostels to identify and resolve any issues. He emphasized the need to prevent tragic incidents, such as food poisoning, which recently claimed the life of a student in one of the hostels.

The Chief Minister also stressed the Congress government’s commitment to improving the infrastructure and services in government schools, which had been neglected under the previous BRS government. He mentioned the recent increase in diet charges by 40% and cosmetic charges by 200%, calling these measures part of the Congress government’s efforts to ensure better facilities for students.

Additionally, the government has raised the uniform stitching charges from Rs. 25 to Rs. 75, with the work now entrusted to women self-help groups. This change ensures that students receive their uniforms before the academic year begins, addressing one of the key needs of students.

Addressing Challenges in Enrollment and Performance

In his address, the Chief Minister also expressed concern over the low enrollment in government schools compared to private institutions. He questioned why parents from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who cannot afford private school fees, continue to opt for private institutions. CM Revanth Reddy urged teachers and officials to introspect and focus on improving the quality of education in government schools, emphasizing that students should be encouraged to excel beyond academics.

To compete with private schools, the Chief Minister revealed plans to establish Young India integrated residential schools in every Assembly constituency. These schools will offer quality education and infrastructure, making them a viable alternative to private institutions.

Long-Term Vision for Education in Telangana

CM Revanth Reddy called for long-term planning and introspection to ensure the future of education in Telangana is bright. He questioned why essential planning for the next academic year was not being done in advance and emphasized the need for permanent solutions to the issues faced by government schools.

The Chief Minister reiterated that investing in education is not just an expenditure but an investment in the state’s future. He urged teachers to go beyond academics and inspire students to develop multifaceted skills, preparing them for a successful future.

In a powerful closing statement, CM Revanth Reddy urged officials, teachers, and the community to work together to strengthen government schools, create better infrastructure, and most importantly, provide a safe, nourishing, and conducive environment for students to thrive.

Key Highlights:

  • Green Channel Fund Transfer: Ensures timely disbursement of funds to government schools and hostels by the 10th of every month.
  • New Diet Menu and Mess Management: Introduction of a common diet menu for students and student-run committees to monitor food quality.
  • Increased Support for Students: 40% increase in diet charges, 200% increase in cosmetic charges, and a raise in uniform stitching charges from Rs. 25 to Rs. 75.
  • Plans for New Educational Infrastructure: Launch of Young India integrated residential schools in every Assembly constituency to rival private institutions.
  • Focus on Student Empowerment and Quality: Encouraging student involvement in decision-making and fostering excellence beyond academics.

With these comprehensive measures, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy aims to transform the educational landscape in Telangana, ensuring that government schools offer a competitive and nurturing environment for students to thrive academically and personally.
