Washington: Polls show US Vice President Kamala Harris leading former president Donald Trump in several crucial battleground states, including Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. As the Democratic presidential candidate, Harris holds a narrow lead over Trump in Michigan, according to a recent poll by UMass Lowell’s Center for Public Opinion and YouGov. The poll places Harris at 48% compared to Trump’s 43% in the Great Lakes State. Rodrigo Castro Cornejo, a political science professor at UMass Lowell, noted that this margin is encouraging for Harris’ campaign.
Trump faces significant challenges in Michigan, with negative favorability ratings that his campaign must overcome to remain competitive, according to Cornejo. In Pennsylvania, Harris holds a slim 48% to 46% lead over Trump, signaling a tight race in the coming weeks, according to the UMass Lowell poll. Cornejo emphasized that get-out-the-vote efforts will be critical as the race heats up.
Fox News polls show Harris leading Trump in Georgia with 51% of the vote compared to Trump’s 48%. However, Trump holds an edge in Arizona, leading Harris by a similar 51% to 48% margin.
Real Clear Politics, which tracks major polls, indicates that nationally, Trump trails Harris by two percentage points. In battleground states, the race is statistically tied, with Harris leading Trump by just 0.3 percentage points.
