Anant Ambani Airlifts West Bengal Teen Living in Pond to Mumbai for Medical Care

Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, intervened to arrange urgent healthcare support for a sixteen year old resident of Beldanga in West Bengal's Murshidabad district. The teenager, identified as Iqbal, spent years living in local ponds due to a debilitating, undiagnosed illness. Following direct instructions from Ambani, emergency air transport was mobilized to fly the boy directly to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai for advanced clinical evaluation.

The case came to public attention after video footage went viral showing the teenager sitting inside a pond while eating snacks. According to his family, Iqbal suffered an intense burning sensation across his body whenever he left the water, which compelled him to stay submerged from morning until late at night. Local residents reported that he frequently moved between various water bodies in the area in an attempt to manage his extreme physical distress.

His parents revealed that previous consultations at local medical facilities failed to yield progress or a clear diagnosis. Struggling under financial constraints, the family could not afford specialized testing or prolonged therapy, leading them to issue public pleas for help. Meanwhile, dermatologists cautioned that prolonged immersion poses severe health complications, including skin maceration, structural tissue breakdown, and an increased vulnerability to severe fungal and bacterial infections.

Upon his arrival in Mumbai, Iqbal was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, where a dedicated team of medical specialists began diagnostic testing, dermatological examinations, and structured evaluations to identify his underlying condition and establish a treatment plan.
