Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), often criticized for their underwhelming bowling resources, received a notable boost as three of their pacers were selected for India’s Test squad against Bangladesh. This includes Yash Dayal, who received his maiden call-up.
The BCCI revealed the Indian squad for the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Among the selections, left-arm seamer Yash Dayal’s inclusion was a standout, while the rest of the squad mostly aligned with expectations. Notably, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are making their returns, whereas Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar were omitted. Mukesh Kumar also missed out as India focuses on developing a left-arm pacer.
RCB’s pacers have made a significant impact, especially given the franchise’s history of criticism for its bowling unit. Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Yash Dayal, all from RCB, have been selected, highlighting a shift in narrative. Akash Deep, who debuted for India in Dharamsala, retained his spot after a strong performance in the Duleep Trophy, while Dayal secured his place over competitors like Arshdeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed.
An RCB post celebrating the selection went viral: “From being trolled to taking full control, the story of RCB’s pace attack is a true testament to Playing Bold! Go well in the Test series, gentlemen. Let menace, redemption, and consistency define you!” With Siraj likely to be managed carefully throughout the series, RCB’s bowling line-up is receiving well-deserved recognition for their contributions.
