A horrific assault video of two women who were gangraped and being paraded naked by a mob on a road in Manipur was circulated on social media on Wednesday.
As per the statement by the Indigenous Tribal Leader’s Forum(ITLF), the incident is believed to have happened on 4th May in Kangpokpi district, which is nearly 35 km from Imphal which is the state Capital.
ITLF mentioned that, “The despicable scene, that took place in Kangpokpi district on 4th May, shows the men constantly molesting the helpless women, who cry and plead with their captors”, NDTV reported
The assault happened two months ago and two relatives of the women were also murdered by the group of men. As per the Hindustan Times (HT), information from a police officer states that the complaint was filed at Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district by the village chief. The case was transferred
As the incident happened under the Nongpok Sekmai police station of Thoubal.
A day before this on-camera horrifying incident, ethnic clashes between tribal and non-tribal groups broke out which led to the death of at least 150 people and nearly 40000 are displaced.
A case of abduction, gang-rape and murder has been filed by the Mainpuri Police, says their tweet.
The disturbing incident has shocked the entire nation. Though it’s been over two months, unfortunately actions are not yet taken by the centre and the state government, against the monsters involved in the incident. Several political leaders have expressed their disappointment in the media over the Manipur incident. But somewhere a question arises, why government is still quiet about the issues in Manipur.
