Prithvi Shaw and Yuzvendra Chahal recently attended the Premier League 2024 season opener at Old Trafford, where Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0. The Indian cricketers are in London for the County Championship and made the trip to witness the match. Shaw and Chahal, who play for Northamptonshire, shared moments from the game and their visit to the historic stadium.
Shaw and Chahal’s Northamptonshire team had just played a One Day Cup match against Kent, where Chahal made a remarkable debut, taking five wickets and conceding only 14 runs. This performance marked his sixth five-wicket haul in List A cricket. Chahal’s previous stint with Kent in 2023 had also seen him take nine wickets in two matches.
Chahal’s signing with Northamptonshire was finalized shortly before the One Day Cup game, where he joined Shaw, who has been performing well in the tournament with 344 runs in eight matches. Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane is also competing in the County Championship with Leicestershire.
Chahal is set to play five County Championship matches with Northamptonshire, aiming to secure a spot back in India’s senior national team after missing recent tours and the T20 World Cup.
