Showers of Cash rewards on the Olympic heroes of India.

It is a matter of pride for all the Indians to see our country in the 48th place for Medal tally in the Tokyo Olympics which is the highest ranking in over four decades. Neeraj Chopra is the first Indian to secure gold medal in men’s “Javelin Throw” While Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Lovlina Borgohain, P V Sindhu and Bairang Punia had got medals for India in Weight Lifting(49Kg Women), Wrestling(57kg), Welterweight Boxing (for women), Badminton (women’s Singles) and Wrestling (65Kg) respectively. After years of waiting the men’s hockey team has a got a medal in OLY by giving their best. Altogether India has secured 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals.

 To add glitters to the celebration on victory of the winners, BYJU’S the famous ed-tech company founded in 2015 and backed  by marquee investors like Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake, the Chan- Zuckerber Initiative, Tiger Global and General Atlantic announced a cash reward of Rs. 2 crore for the gold medalist Neeraj Chopra and all the other winners will be rewarded with Rs. 1 crore each. 

Byju  Raveendran, Founder & CEO of BYJU’S wishes that this small gesture from the firm shall help the winners in their future endeavors. 

“ We hope that this small gesture will help them in their journey going forward to win more laurels for the country and also encourage many more youngsters to dream big”, he mentioned.

He also said that India has a huge potential to produce more sporting champions and it is important to celebrate these successes by making them heroes and to transform ourselves from a sport loving nation to a sport playing nation.

Along with this various other rewards were announced to appreciate Neeraj Chopra who got a gold medal for India in the individual category of Olympic games after Abhinav Bindra.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh made an announcement of awarding Rs. 2 Crores for Neeraj’ remarkable achievement.

 The Chief Minister of Haryana, ML Khattar has also declared a cash reward of Rs. 6 crores. 

Even IPL franchise Chennai Super kings has decided to honour the athlete with Rs. 1crore. Meanwhile, IndiGo has offered unlimited free travel for a year.

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has also declared to award Rs. 1 crore to Neeraj Chopra, Rs. 50 lakhs each to the sliver medal winners Mirabai Chanu, Ravi Kumar Dahiya, RS. 25 lakhs each to the bronze medal winners Lovlina Borgohain, P V Sindhu and Bairang. It has also announced a reward of Rs. 1.25 crore to the Indian men’s hockey team for their marvellous efforts to fetch a medal in the sport after 41 years.

Amidst the pandemic, it was not an easy task for the players to reach their goals, but in spite of all the hurdles they succeeded with flying colours. So they deserve showers of rewards and to be called the youth inspiring heroes of our country. They are the best examples for dedication and determination. These role models have created history. The players are being rewarded  for their efforts, sacrifices and achievements. This kind of encouragement can lead youngsters to achieve much more for our country.
