Vodafone Idea Ltd lost 2.7million subscribers in October

Vodafone Idea Ltd is an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership. It is one of India’s top telecom companies. On August 31st in the year 2018 Vodafone merged with Idea cellular and formed to be a new entity Vodafone Idea Ltd popularly known as VI. It is listed on the National Stock exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock exchange (BSE).

According to the data given by Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India (TRAI), Vodafone Idea which was one of the largest operators in India has lost around 2.7 million subscribers in October. Whereas Reliance Jio with 406 million subscribers and Bharti Airtel with 330million subscribers by the end of october are leading to be the largest operators in India while Vodafone Idea stands behind in the race with its competitors  as it has only 293million subscribers.

 As per the reports, Bharti Airtel has 3.8 million subscribers and Reliance Jio has 2.2million new subscribers . Therefore they could witness an increase in the country’s active wireless subscriber base. The market share of wireless subscribers of Reliance Jio is 35 per cent, Bharti Airtel is 29 percent and Vodafone Idea is 25 percent. Bharti Airtel wireless broadband user base has increased by 7 million to 170million . Even Reliance Jio increased its wireless broadband user base by 4million to 408 million while Vodafone Idea could not expand its user base like its rivals. VI ended up adding only two- thirds of a million wireless broadband users.

According to the reports, the total subscriber base of Bharti Airtel  active during the month was around 97 per cent which is considered to be the highest, followed by Reliance Jio almost 79 per cent was active. Vodafone Idea had nearly 89per percent active subscriber base. 

The number of users increased in the wireline segment were as follows: Reliance Jio – 245,912, Bharti Airtel- 48,397, Vodafone Idea- 9400.  Therefore under Broadband market share of both wired and wireline Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea were the top three operators and their percentages were 55.53%, 23.17% and 16.40% respectively.
