The Indian wrestlers have been protesting for a month on the streets of Delhi to arrest the chief of WFI for an accusation against the sexual exploitation and harassment of the women wrestlers.
The protestors had decided to carry out their peaceful protest with a Mahila Panchayat in front of the new building on Sunday.
Security in Delhi was increased as the protesting wrestlers started marching towards the brand new Parliament building.
The barricades were also put up by the Delhi Police near the Tikri border, Singhu border and the ITO road as the Khap Panchayat and the farmers were about to join the march towards the Parliament house.
Vinesh Phogat- Indian wrestler said that all wrestlers had planned to hold a non-violent women’s Maha Panchayat near the brand new Parliament on 28th May. “They are ready to face all the brutality by the police in a peaceful manner. The police officials closed the protest at New Delhi but now they requested all the people to join their Mahila Panchayat in front of the new Parliament”.
The Chief of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh made a stated that he is prepared to take up the nacro test and he instigated the protestors not to carry any type of rage near the brand new Parliament, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. He said that a brand new Parliament is a pride of our nation, and mentioned that he felt really bad when he heard about the wrestler’s idea to protest near the Parliament. He requested the wrestlers to stop the protests and said that he is ready for everything, along with the nacro test”.
Various supporters from different states who were protesting in Jantar Mantar announced that they had planned to call ‘mahila mahapanchayat’ next to the new Parliament house on May 28.
The protesters in the Jantar mantar who were marching towards the new Parliament building were detained and arrested at Jantar Mantar, barricades were broke. The Police removed all the tents near the Jantar Mantar and cleared the crowd on site.
Farm laborers and Women farmers from BKU and Khet Mazdoor Union from Punjab, supporting the protesting wrestlers decided to hold a ‘mahila march’ to Governor’s residence at Chandigarh from the Amb Sahib Gurudwara in Mohali. So, they started to assemble for the rally in the ground opposite to Gurudwara for a march towards the residence of the Governor. Various women laborers who decided to participate in the march were stopped by the police officers near the Manji Sahib gurudwara in Haryana.
