Adani Energy Solutions Wins 4,700 Crore Rupee Transmission Project in Maharashtra to Evacuate 4,500 MW Green Power
Adani Energy Solutions Limited has secured a major transmission project in Maharashtra valued at an estimated capital expenditure of 4,700 crore rupees (around 493 million dollars). The infrastructure contract was secured under the tariff-based competitive bidding route, where the company emerged as the lowest bidder. The initiative is designed to evacuate up to 4,500 MW of renewable energy generated in Karnataka and deliver it directly to primary consumption and industrial load centers across Maharashtra, including the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan regions.
The scheme, titled Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4,500 MW) - Part A, will be executed through a special purpose vehicle named Satara Power Transmission Limited. The project has a targeted completion timeline of 36 months and is expected to reinforce inter-regional energy corridors between Southern and Western India, enhancing overall national grid stability.
The scope of work encompasses:
The establishment of a new 765/400 kV substation at Satara.
The construction of a 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting Kolhapur to Satara.
The technical augmentation of the existing Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.
Once fully commissioned, the project will add 562 circuit kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the company's network. This addition expands the company's cumulative transmission footprint to 29,739 circuit kilometers and 143,425 MVA transformation capacity, strengthening its position in India's power transmission and clean energy infrastructure landscape.
Company leadership highlighted that the deployment of pumped storage and associated transmission corridors remains critical to India's clean energy transition by providing necessary grid flexibility to support the national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
