Anant Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Industries, intervened to provide comprehensive healthcare support for a sixteen year old resident of Beldanga in West Bengal's Murshidabad district. The teenager, identified as Iqbal, had been living submerged in local ponds for years due to an undiagnosed medical condition. On instructions from Ambani, emergency air transport was arranged to fly the boy directly to Mumbai for specialized clinical evaluation.

The case drew widespread attention after video footage surfaced showing the teenager sitting inside a pond while eating snacks. According to his family, Iqbal experienced a severe burning sensation across his body whenever he left the water, forcing him to remain submerged from morning until late at night. Local residents reported that he frequently moved between different water bodies in the area to manage his intense physical discomfort.

His family explained that previous visits to local healthcare facilities yielded no improvement or definitive diagnosis. Facing severe financial hardship, the family was unable to afford advanced medical consultations or specialized testing, prompting them to issue public appeals for aid. Medical experts warned that prolonged immersion in water creates additional health complications, including severe skin maceration, structural skin damage, and elevated risk of chronic bacterial or fungal infections.

Upon landing in Mumbai, Iqbal was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. A dedicated team of medical specialists has commenced detailed clinical evaluations, diagnostic imaging, and dermatological assessments to determine the root cause of his symptoms and establish a structured recovery plan.
