India-Haryana- Burn them alive shouts mobs, FIR reveals the details about the attack on police station.

On July 31, FIRs were filed at a police station in Nuh, Haryana, regarding the violence that occurred during a procession by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad which resulted in the death of six people, two home guards (Neeraj and Gursevak), one imam (Maulana Mohmmad Saad) and a dozen of police officers got injured during the incident. The FIR was registered citing violations of sections 148, 149, 186, 332, 353, 395, 397 427, 435 and 436 of the (IPC) Indian Penal Code, along with relevant sections under The Arms Act.

According to one of the complaints under the cyber crime police station of Police Sub-Inspector Suraj, the incident took place at 3:30 pm on Monday when a mob of approximately 600-700 people attacked a police station in Nuh. The mobs threw stones at the police station that dealt with cybercrime activities and chanted slogans like “burn them alive”.

As mentioned in the FIR, ASI Digvijay from Sadar Tauru police station, accompanied by the colleague, rushed in a government vehicle (Bolero) to the police station with an intention to protect themselves from the ongoing stone pelting by the troublemakers and rioters. The situation became worse as the mobs used a yellow bus to crash into the gate and walls of the station. Some of them directly opened fire at the police staff showing the illegal arms by climbing the walls and roof.

According to the FIR, the policemen hid himself behind the walls to avoid the gunfire. Constable Pradeep Kumar fired teargas shells as per orders, attempting to disperse the violent mob . However, when the rioters continued with stone pelting, in self-defense and for their protection, the police officers retrieved arms from the police station’s weapon store and fired warning shots in the air as a form of retaliatory action. The police officials at the station asked the mob to maintain peace, but the mobs continued to shower stones and the situation escalated further as the mob started firing at the police station, causing injuries to several police officials. One of the bullets struck in the officer’s abdomen, as mentioned in the FIR. The mobs had gone to the extent of crashing a bus into the gate of the police station.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij made a statement that additional forces from neighboring districts were appointed and helicopters were utilized to send additional personnel. However, To avoid the “intense communal tension”, the Haryana government took some measures to suspend the mobile internet services until 2 August 2023.
