Mamata Ego Lost Bengal Now She Regrets and Urges Opposition Unity vs Congress and CPI Ego Will Destroy INDIA Block as BJP Rigging Allegations Surface

The political landscape of West Bengal has shifted dramatically following the 2026 Assembly elections, where the Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mamata Banerjee, who once ruled the state with an iron fist, now finds herself in the unfamiliar role of the opposition. Critics and political analysts suggest that it was Mamata's ego and her refusal to accommodate allies like the Congress and the Left during the pre-poll negotiations that led to this historic loss. By choosing to fight alone and underestimating the anti-incumbency wave, she effectively split the anti-BJP vote, allowing the BJP to breach her long-standing bastions. Now, in a visible state of regret, the TMC supremo has released a video message urging all opposition forces, including students and NGOs, to form a joint platform against the BJP.

However, the narrative of a simple democratic shift is being fiercely contested by the TMC leadership. Mamata Banerjee has raised serious doubts about the integrity of the 2026 polls, alleging that the BJP rigged the election by weaponizing the Election Commission and Central forces. According to TMC insiders, nearly 80 lakhs voters were strategically deleted from the rolls. Furthermore, a major controversy has erupted over the exclusion of state government employees from the voting and counting procedures. Allegations suggest that the Election Commission, under central influence, ensured only "Modi employees" or central staff were allowed to oversee the process. Despite appeals, even the High Court and Supreme Court reportedly did not intervene to allow state employees to monitor the counting, leading to a 100% doubt in the minds of the TMC and other regional players that the mandate was manipulated behind closed doors.

Despite these grave concerns regarding the electoral process, the path to opposition unity remains blocked by deep-seated resentment. The Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) have swiftly rejected Banerjee's olive branch, labeling her leadership as corrupt and extortionist. Leaders like Md Salim and Soumya Aich Roy have pointed out the irony of the situation: for years, the TMC worked to systematically weaken the Congress and Left in Bengal, and now that the TMC has lost its power, it seeks their help. This ego battle between the regional giant and the traditional national parties is creating a massive vacuum. While Mamata Banerjee is desperate to fix the damage and regain her relevance by highlighting "rigged" results, the Congress and CPI-M seem more focused on penalizing her for past slights than on building a cohesive front against the BJP’s alleged central overreach.

This internal friction is the exact scenario the BJP had hoped for. By maintaining their own separate identities and refusing to coordinate, the Congress and the Left are inadvertently strengthening the BJP’s grip on the state, even as questions about the Election Commission's neutrality linger. Some experts argue that the INDIA block is being destroyed from within by a collective ego problem and a foolish lack of foresight. If the Congress and Left believe they can reclaim Bengal by simply watching the TMC fall, they may be ignoring the larger threat of centralized electoral control. Without a unified strategy to address both the political loss and the systemic allegations of voter deletion and counting bias, the opposition remains a house divided. The BJP thrives when its opponents are divided by personal animosities, proving that in 2026, egoistic alliances are the greatest obstacle to resisting the saffron wave.
