Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi shared a heartfelt message of ‘affection and respect’ on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, celebrating the special bond between siblings.

On Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to the social media platform X to extend his wishes for Raksha Bandhan, celebrating the “unbreakable love” that binds brothers and sisters. He shared a touching photograph with his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with a heartfelt message: “Warm congratulations and best wishes to all on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, a celebration of the enduring love and affection between siblings.” He added, “May this protective thread always keep your sacred relationship strong.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also marked the occasion with a nostalgic post, sharing childhood photos of herself and Rahul. In her message, she beautifully compared the sibling relationship to a “flowerbed” filled with colorful memories, stories of togetherness, and a shared commitment to deepen their friendship, all built on a foundation of respect, love, and mutual understanding. She further reflected on their bond, describing siblings as “companions in struggle, keepers of memories, and boatmen of companionship.”

Raksha Bandhan, a Hindu festival celebrated on August 19 this year, honors the unique and everlasting bonds between siblings. Traditionally, sisters tie a Rakhi, or sacred thread, around their brother’s wrist, symbolizing their bond and the brother’s vow to protect his sister.

Leaders across the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also extended their Raksha Bandhan wishes. On X, Modi conveyed, “Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolizing the immense love between brother and sister. May this holy festival bring new sweetness to your relationships and bring happiness, prosperity, and good fortune into your lives.”
