Reliance Investment of Rs 1 Lakh Crore in Andhra Pradesh Announced by Anant Ambani for Clean Biogas and Smart Farming

Reliance Industries has committed a massive investment of Rs 1 lakh crore to build compressed biogas plants across Andhra Pradesh. The initiative aims to connect clean fuel production with local farming, turning crop waste into valuable green energy while creating three lakh rural jobs. The announcement marks one of the largest private sector investments directed toward the rural economy of southern India.

The declaration came during a public ceremony in Madanapalle, located in Annamayya district. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan were present as the foundation stone was laid for the Indian School of Agriculture and the Rayalaseema Horticulture Hub. Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani shared the stage with state leaders and signed a formal agreement to support and manage the newly planned agricultural institution.

Speaking to a large gathering of farmers, public officials, and local citizens, Anant Ambani explained that the clean energy push is designed to directly benefit the people who work the land. He stated that the farmers who secure the food needs of the country will now play an equally vital role in powering the energy needs of the nation. By turning agricultural residue, farm waste, and biomass into clean vehicle fuel, cultivators will gain a steady and dependable secondary income.

The planned network of compressed biogas plants is projected to generate nearly Rs 60,000 crore in long-term revenue for the state government. Beyond the revenue, the direct collection and processing of agricultural biomass is expected to generate wide-scale employment opportunities. The project will create work for farm equipment operators, transport drivers, plant technicians, field supervisors, and local logistics coordinators across several rural districts.

Alongside the industrial biogas plants, Reliance announced a major commitment to bring modern digital technology directly to village farms. The company has partnered with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop the Indian School of Agriculture, modeled after world-class professional institutions. The new center will focus on combining artificial intelligence, satellite data, soil sensors, and robotics with the everyday practical experience of traditional Indian farmers.

Practical tools developed under this partnership will solve common problems faced by ordinary growers. Farmers will have access to smart software that detects crop diseases and insect attacks before they spread across an entire field. Flying camera drones will map farm health and guide the exact use of water and organic fertilizers. Local growers will also receive live price alerts on their mobile phones, allowing tomato and vegetable farmers in markets like Madanapalle to decide the exact day and market to sell their harvest for the highest profit.

To make sure these tools reach small farmers without literacy barriers, Reliance Jio will build digital classrooms in villages across the state. Training lessons will be produced in simple Telugu and other regional languages. Educated local young men and women will be trained and employed as digital assistants. These workers will visit fields, guide farmers through smartphone apps, demonstrate drone spraying, and help villagers operate modern agricultural tools.

Reliance will also bring research from its major clean energy center in Jamnagar to rural Andhra Pradesh. The company will integrate its Jio Krishi service to provide weather forecasts, soil testing reports, and advisory services directly to farmers. State officials noted that this focus on innovation will turn the historically dry and water-scarce Rayalaseema region into a thriving commercial hub for horticulture, fruit cultivation, and green industrial production.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu praised the partnership, noting that the combination of private investment, university research, and clean energy will bring lasting prosperity to rural households. He highlighted that modern farming must become profitable and technologically advanced so that educated rural youth choose to build successful businesses in their native villages rather than moving away to crowded cities.
