In a recent development, the former Chief Minister expressed confidence in his son, Vijayendra, as the newly appointed state unit president of the BJP. Targeting more than 25 seats out of 28 in the state, he is confident that his son would win the coming Lok Sabha elections and unite the party as a leader.
Surprisingly, the Chief Minister claimed he did not expect or lobby for Vijayendra’s appointment, emphasizing that the decision rested with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national President J P Nadda. He declared that he holds no responsibility in the selection process.
Vijayendra, the 47-year-old son of the former Chief Minister, previously served as the state vice-president of the party and is now replacing Nalin Kumar Kateel as the state president. To have a considerable win in the coming elections, the party aims to support Vijayendra’s leadership.
Yediyurappa addressed concerns about accusations of ‘dynasty politics’ within the BJP, stating that such claims by the Congress are irrelevant. He conveyed confidence in an optimistic response received from the party workers and the public across the state and ignored the criticisms.
In order to gain 25 Lok Sabha seats and have victory, the Yediruppa laid his strategy of traveling across the state along with his son. Despite Congress’ allegations, Yediyurappa believes the party’s enthusiastic workers will make this goal feasible to achieve.
Responding to questions about potential challenges for Vijayendra, Yediyurappa acknowledged that leadership roles are never easy. However, he emphasized that with the support of dedicated party workers and their shared commitment to the goal, winning the targeted Lok Sabha seats should not be a formidable task.
Yediyurappa made concerns regarding the political dissatisfaction among the senior party leaders, saying that there’s no proof of discontent and the appointment has been accepted without any opposition. He also confidently stated that his son would work hard to keep the party united and also attract the people who would disagree now.
With Vijayendra’s appointment as the state unit president of the BJP, the political arena of Karnataka is about to take a shift. The party aims to capitalize on his leadership to secure a significant number of Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming elections, while the former Chief Minister maintains that the decision was made at the higher echelons of the party.
