A major milestone in public transportation across the United Arab Emirates has officially begun as the first passenger train service from Dubai takes to the tracks. The newly launched Etihad Rail passenger network provides direct high-speed links connecting Dubai with Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. The long-awaited service is designed to give daily commuters, working professionals, and holiday travelers an easy and modern way to travel across different emirates without facing road congestion.
Traveling between key cities has now become much faster and more dependable for the public. The train journey connecting Dubai Al Yalayis station with Mohammed Bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi takes approximately sixty-four minutes. The journey between Dubai and the scenic eastern emirate of Fujairah takes around one hour and ten minutes. Direct trips between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah are completed in roughly one hour and forty-five minutes, cutting road travel times considerably.
Ticket prices have been kept budget-friendly to encourage everyday people to switch from highway driving to rail transport. The operator provides two main travel sections called Comfort Class and Premium Class. For people traveling between Dubai and Fujairah, Comfort Class one-way tickets start at twenty-nine dirhams, while Premium Class seats start at eighty-nine dirhams. Commuters traveling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi can purchase Comfort Class tickets starting at thirty-nine dirhams, with Premium Class seats priced from one hundred and nine dirhams. The daily timetable has been planned to match the needs of office workers and early morning travelers. Trains moving from Dubai to Abu Dhabi depart across several key intervals throughout the morning and evening, starting as early as six fourteen in the morning, followed by departures at seven fourteen in the morning, one fourteen in the afternoon, and five fourteen in the evening. In the opposite direction, return trips from Abu Dhabi to Dubai begin early in the morning and run until late evening, providing steady links across peak commuting hours.
On the connection between Dubai and Fujairah, the schedule initially features dedicated daily services running across the day. The scheduled departure from Fujairah station starts at eleven fifty-four in the morning, reaching Dubai Al Yalayis by one zero-four in the afternoon. In the return direction, the train leaves Dubai at one fifty-seven in the afternoon and pulls into Fujairah at three zero-seven in the afternoon. Officials noted that more trips will be added to the daily timetable as passenger footfall climbs in the coming months.
Booking tickets has been made completely digital and simple for travelers. Passengers can plan their trips, select preferred travel seats, and purchase journey tickets through the official website and mobile application of Etihad Rail. Travelers can also make seat reservations at station ticket desks and self-service booking machines placed across newly opened stations. Transport authorities advise passengers to book their journeys well ahead of time during weekends and holiday seasons to guarantee seat availability.
The trains are built with modern amenities to make every journey relaxing and practical for passengers of all ages. Each coach features comfortable seating, high-speed wireless internet access, charging points for mobile devices and laptops, and wide storage racks for family luggage. The trains also include dedicated seating spaces for passengers with limited mobility, clean restrooms, and catering sections serving drinks and light snacks throughout the trip.
Transportation experts view the launch of this passenger network as a big step forward for economic cooperation and tourism across the country. By joining major commercial centers with industrial towns and coastal destinations, the railway will take thousands of private cars off highway roads, lower carbon emissions, and make everyday travel smooth, safe, and inexpensive for everyone.
