PM Modi, Leaders Mourn the Untimely Passing of BJP MLA Devender Singh Rana

In a tragic and unexpected loss for the political community, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various leaders expressed their sorrow over the untimely demise of BJP MLA Devender Singh Rana on Friday. Devender Singh Rana, a prominent political figure and recent Assembly poll winner in Jammu and Kashmir, was widely acknowledged for his contributions to the region’s development and the strengthening of the BJP’s presence there.

Prime Minister Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his condolences, stating, “Shri Devender Singh Rana Ji’s untimely demise is shocking. He was a veteran leader, who worked diligently towards Jammu and Kashmir’s progress.” Modi highlighted Rana’s impactful role within the party and his dedication to the region.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha shared his tribute, expressing that the state has lost a “patriotic & widely respected leader.” According to Sinha, Rana’s commitment to the welfare of the people of J&K was deeply valued, and his loss is felt by many.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also conveyed his condolences on X. Despite recent political differences, Abdullah reminisced about their shared experiences and accomplishments, emphasizing that Rana’s passing is a great loss. “You have been taken from us all too soon & will be missed. May your soul rest in peace now DSR,” he wrote.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, in a heartfelt message, mourned the loss of what he called a “deep personal loss.” Singh’s message conveyed the deep bond he shared with Rana, calling the void left by his death “irreparable and painful.” Singh also extended his gratitude to those who have been supportive during this time.

The loss of Devender Singh Rana has cast a shadow over Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape, with leaders and the public alike mourning the passing of a leader who dedicated himself to public service and the growth of the region.
