Police Freeze 12 More Bank Accounts Of Trinamool Congress With Over 1,000 Crore Deposits

The political landscape of West Bengal has been hit by a massive financial storm after the cybercrime unit of the Bidhannagar Police ordered the freezing of 12 additional bank accounts belonging to the Trinamool Congress. These accounts collectively hold an astronomical sum exceeding 1,000 crore. This dramatic action comes right on the heels of the Enforcement Directorate freezing three prime accounts of the party that contained 440 crore. The dual action by state police and central investigators has effectively locked away a staggering 1,440 crore of the political organization. The sudden clampdown has sent shockwaves through the region as the party struggles to find immediate liquidity for its daily administrative activities. The legal battle is now moving swiftly toward the Calcutta High Court where the top leadership has sought urgent intervention to restore access to their frozen wealth before the start of the new work week.

The sudden freeze was triggered by a detailed First Information Report filed after serious complaints were raised by MLA Sandipan Saha. The lawmaker recently shifted allegiances to a rival faction within the party led by Ritabrata Banerjee. The internal rebellion has exposed deep financial cracks within the organization with the complaining faction alleging that massive public and party funds were being illegally diverted through hidden channels. Investigative agencies quickly stepped in after tracking suspicious movement of capital. Prior to the latest police action the Enforcement Directorate launched its own extensive search operations across 5 locations in the city. The central agency focused heavily on suspected transactions between the political party and Carewell Aviation India Private Limited. Investigators allege that around 160 crore was moved from party funds to the aviation firm to purchase a luxury Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft and an Agusta 109SP helicopter, which were leased right back to the political party itself.

This complex situation has pushed the broader conversation toward a highly controversial pattern in modern Indian governance, specifically the heavy deployment of state apparatuses by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Opposition leaders frequently highlight concrete statistical evidence pointing to a massive imbalance in anti corruption crackdowns. For instance, comprehensive public research shows that under the present national administration, over 95 percent of prominent politicians investigated by central bodies like the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate belong to opposition camps. Critics argue that these powerful organizations are systematically weaponized to financially paralyze and politically dismantle regional rivals. The fact that high profile investigations against non aligned politicians routinely slow down or vanish entirely once those individuals defect to the ruling alliance serves as critical proof for the opposition that these agencies are operating under partisan direction rather than independent legal mandates.

The final outcome of this high stakes deadlock now rests entirely with the judiciary. The Calcutta High Court has already shown a measured approach by previously allowing the party to use its initial three frozen accounts under the strict supervision of retired Justice Subrata Talukdar to ensure daily operations do not completely collapse. However the latest freeze on 12 more accounts holding 1,000 crore presents an entirely new challenge for the legal system. If the court finds concrete evidence of money laundering or unauthorized fund diversion the leadership could face severe operational paralysis. On the other hand if the agencies fail to present clear proof of criminality the action will be viewed as an overreach. As Rajya Sabha member Derek O Brien retaliated by questioning when agencies would freeze temple donations the battle has clearly transcended the courts to become a massive public relations war that will redefine the future of political funding and accountability across the nation.
