Satyagrah witnessed across the nation against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as MP in Lok Sabha.

The Congress initiated a whole-day Satyagraha on Sunday in expressing objections to Rahul Gandhi’s exclusion as MP of Lok Sabha. As per the records, Satyagraha was noticed near the Mahatma Gandhi’s statues all over the country in different states and district headquarters.

Satyagraha started at 10 am and came to an end by 5 pm. Mallikarjun Kharge- Congress President and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had staged the satyagraha at New Delhi’s Raj Ghat.

The Congress party claimed that Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha as he was continuously questioning the connection between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gautam Adani- the Chairperson of Adani group. The Congress supporters said that Rahul Gandhi is not alone and lakhs of other congress people will join him in this fight for truth and justice irrespective of their political coalition and connection.

The Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge was debarred as Lok Sabha MP after his conviction of defamation case by the Surat court on “Modi Surname”.

Unfortunately, the Lok Sabha Secretariat disqualified Gandhi after a few hours from the day of his conviction and issued a notice regarding the same on Friday which was signed by the Secretary General of Lok Sabha.

Various Congress leaders along with the general   secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, P Chidambaram and Salman Khursheed made an appearance at Rajghat to take part in the protests.

Priyanka G Vadra said that her family had taken care of the democracy by surrendering themselves to the country. She claimed that her father and brother were insulted in the Parliament, her brother has been given names like Meer Jafar to offend him. She further said ,’The public will answer the arrogant king”.

Last week a court in Surat sentenced Rahul Gandhi to couple years in jail in the defamation case. Nonetheless Congress leader was acknowledged with bail and interrupted the verdict for 30 days to allow him to appear in a higher court. The disqualification of four time MP has barred him from contesting in elections for eight years unless a verdict is given by the higher court.

Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra along with the senior Congress leader  Prithviraj Chavan said that the disqualification of Gandhi is hurting and it can be the end of democracy.

Shashi Tharoor, Congress MP told the media that this Satyagraha is not only about Rahul Gandhi or Congress party, this is about Indian democracy as a whole. The chief opposition leader is not allowed to raise his voice in the Parliament, but we have a Prime Minister who talks to the world about our country as the mother of democracy.
